What is 1X NEO?

NEO is the flagship home robot from 1X. Unlike humanoids sold mainly as developer or industrial platforms, 1X explicitly designed and markets NEO around everyday life at home. The company says NEO takes on repetitive household work so people can focus on other priorities. Source: 1X — NEO Home Robot.

That positioning matters. A robot being humanoid does not make it a useful home robot. DOMULU treats household usefulness, consumer access, support and task autonomy as separate questions from the shape of the hardware.

How much does 1X NEO cost?

1X currently asks for a $200 refundable deposit. Its published Early Access ownership price is $20,000, while a $499/month subscription is planned for later. The official order page states that US deliveries start in 2026. Sources: 1X — Order NEO and 1X — NEO Home Robot announcement.

Those are US price signals, not a European landed price. They do not establish future European VAT, import costs, local warranty arrangements, financing terms or a European subscription price.

What can NEO actually do?

1X presents NEO around household chores. Its official material describes tasks such as folding laundry, organizing shelves, tidying spaces and putting away dishes. Owners can create and schedule chore lists, and NEO can receive commands through voice or its mobile interface. These are manufacturer-described capabilities, not independent DOMULU test results. The current NEO product page labels examples including walking to a person and putting away dishes as autonomous. That is meaningful manufacturer evidence, but it is not the same as an independent reliability test across different homes, kitchens and object layouts. Source: 1X — NEO product page.

Is NEO fully autonomous?

The careful answer is not across every household task today. 1X says NEO works autonomously by default, but its order page also says Early Access robots arrive with basic autonomy and grow in capability over time.

For complex tasks NEO does not know, 1X offers Scheduled Expert Mode. At a scheduled time, a 1X Expert can remotely supervise NEO's actions so the task can be completed while the robot learns new abilities. Why NEO is different from a developer humanoid

1X has built NEO around domestic interaction rather than simply adapting a rigid factory robot. The current product uses a soft body and tendon-driven actuation, and 1X lists a weight of about 30 kg and a 22 dB operating-noise figure. In July 2026, 1X also announced new tendon-driven hands with 25 degrees of freedom. Can you buy 1X NEO in Europe?

As of 15 September 2026, 1X has not published a confirmed consumer delivery date for a specific European country. The company's published rollout says it will deliver primarily in the United States in 2026 and expand to other markets starting in 2027. That makes 2027 relevant to European buyers, but it is not a confirmed France, Germany, UK or EU launch date. Source: 1X — Pricing and availability.

For a European buyer, a genuine launch requires more than a checkout button: shipping terms, applicable conformity documentation, importer responsibilities, VAT, warranty, spare parts, repair logistics and the availability and privacy model of Expert Mode all matter. Until those details are published for a specific European market, DOMULU classifies NEO as US-first, European launch not yet confirmed.

Can 1X manufacture NEO at consumer scale?

This is one of the more concrete signals around NEO. In April 2026, 1X said its first year's production capacity — 10,000 NEOs — had been booked within five days of the October preorder launch. The company says its Hayward factory is in full-scale production and that Hayward plus its San Carlos facility provide capacity for up to 10,000 NEOs per year, with a stated goal of scaling toward 100,000+ annually by the end of 2027. Production capacity is not the same as delivered consumer units or proven household reliability. But compared with a prototype-only robotics program, it is evidence that 1X is investing in a consumer-scale manufacturing path.

Should a European household preorder NEO now?

For most European households, DOMULU would wait for a documented local launch rather than treat the US preorder as equivalent to European availability. NEO is unusually concrete for this category, but the most important European consumer questions — country-specific delivery, local support and the real-world autonomy rate of individual chores — are not yet fully answered.
